We are glad to announce the successful completion of the second project initiated through an international design competition. Following the 2023 inauguration of the Cluj Napoca Firefighters’ Tower project, it is now the turn of the Revitalization of Feroviarilor Park, also in Cluj Napoca. These are flagship projects in a broader series of projects accomplished through competitions at various implementation stages, currently ongoing. This is a valid demonstration of the importance of organizing design competitions and the need for quality design, rather than choosing based on the lowest price.

At the beginning of summer, the landscaping works of Parcul Feroviarilor in Cluj-Napoca were completed, by implementing the winning solution from the international design competition organized by the Cluj-Napoca City Hall in partnership with the Romanian Order of Architects in 2018.
Design competitions demonstrate their importance by increasing the quality of the built environment, something impossible without quality design. They provide appropriate tools for new societal needs, saving time and resources in implementation. All these are achieved through initial discussions and detailed analyses of the contracting authorities’ needs.
Through such best practice examples, we aim to show that awarding investment projects can be made through design competitions, which do not hinder or delay local development but instead become generators of prosperity, safety, and quality of life in our cities.
