Concept
The park we propose features a continuous stream of water which is quite uncommon for the arid landscape of Dobrogea. This element in itself can be an opportunity to create a spectacle which deserves to be celebrated to its maximum potential. Valea Pesterii (Cave Valley) through its topography, hydrology and flora as a cornerstone of continuity and diversity in the aforementioned design will generate a plethora of visual experiences for the future visitors or the park as well as an expressive ambient.

The park, as a green area, is always welcomed in a metropolitan area which can usually be very lacking in this department. The composition is balanced in both areas with points of interest distributed across the whole area. Using the flooding plan as a starting point we propose three successive ponds connected through streams of water, that have their water level regulater which is an installation used to manage the water level of a pond. These installations will be hidden under an insulating layer of clay with natural elements on top of it: stone slabs and tree trunks. The clay will result partially from the digging required for the foundations of the proposed building as well as from the excavation of the ponds.
The ponds will have their edge reinforced with small pillars made from acacia wood reinforced with twigs. The first pond, which is situated upstream from the others will be a designed as a swamp in order to filter the water coming into the park which might and most likely will contain chemical compounds from the usage of pesticides and herbicides in agriculture in the area that feeds into the stream. The second pool will contain a collection of white and red water lilies while the third will be embellished by yellow water lilies and decorative species of carp. The main direction of the park starts from the DC89 area, on the north area of Zone A and heads southwards in a smooth curve until it splits. The west lane connects to the pedestrian area of FN33 street which is just south of the zone A meadow and goes directly to Zone B. In zone B the lane is a ample curve that highlights all the objectives of the area. We want to reduce landscaping as much as possible in order to preserve the natural slopes of the site.

The rich views that we sought creating are generated by the level differences and the gentle twist of the terrain, the alternation of high, medium and low vegetation and the opening of the pools of water. In zone A of the park panoramic views of the landscape with ornamental ponds are situated on the mound next to DC89 as well as the adjacent to the crossroad between street DN3C and FN33. In zone B an ample view of the park opens from the southern most extremity of the park, as well as along the lawn in this area.
In order to assure the unobstructed access of the local fauna from a zone to the other, the main walkway will be flanked by trees a shrubbery and will be constructed at the beginning of the project. The main walkway of the park will puncture the ecological barrier between the two zones and will have a slope of maximum 8%, it will feature pedestrian and bike access as well as acting as a track for the parks utility vehicles and emergency vehicles if needed. An underground passage for cars, bikes and pedestrian will connect street FN32 with street FN26. The secondary walkways will have winding paths in order to further explore the vegetation as well as the park’s main attractions while being made from a variate of materials, mostly small permeable rocks in order to create contrast with the more massive mineral elements that will indicate the seating areas of the park.

A few secondary walkways will take visitors to secret an even surprising places such as:
- A bridge over the first pond, the swampy one that will lead to a small island in the middle of it, specifically designed for the observation of the local flora and fauna.
- A viewpoint situated on the highest point of the area in the north-west side of the park towards DC89.
- A exposition of the natural history of the flora throughout the ages-from when plants appear on earth to present.
- An area dedicated to ecological education called The Secret Life of Trees, inspired by the writings of the renowned German forester Peter Wohlleben about the discovery of a hidden world – how the trees communicate and feel.
- A Qi Gong retreat, marked from the main road, with no other entryway, it is a small meadow situated inside an area filled with tall and thick vegetation, thus providing the silence and intimacy needed in order to concentrate.
- A Yoga retreat, marked from the main road, with no other entryway, it is a small meadow situated inside an area filled with tall and thick vegetation, thus providing the silence and intimacy needed in order to concentrate.
In case there will be archaeological findings such as late roman housing in zone 10 or ottoman hamlet with flattened barrows in zone 12, they will be salvaged and displayed in situ in close collaboration with Constanta’s Archaeological Museum.
Grassland areas are proposed both in zone A and B in order to have multiple activities take part at the same time.
In zone A close to the grass area there will be a multifunctional pavilion which will contain an ornamental greenhouse, exposition areas, a coffee shop, administrative offices and a projection screen that will function both as an outdoor cinema and as a stage for small performances. Zone A also provides a sports field package with a toilet in its vicinity with access from the parking connected to the FN33 street, as well as food court next to the main entrance from street DC89, which features a playground for children. Another playground is situated on the west side of the parc next to pond number 1. During the winter season, a skate rink will be established on the sport fields.
In zone B, close to the grass area will be another multifunctional pavilion which will feature a food court, exposition areas and a children’s playground oriented towards the high vegetation zone. Zone B also features a sports field package with a toilet next to it, skating track and two children’s playgrounds, one towards the access from street FN33 an the other towards the East side of the zone. In this area we also propose a connection over the railroad towards Madrid Street.
