This proposed extension and modernization of the high school aims to create a dynamic and engaging environment that prioritizes interactivity, communication, and shared spaces. The focus is on creating a practical and feasible plan that meets the requirements outlined in the competition brief while staying within the budget constraints. The vision is to transform the school into a vibrant hub that fosters collaboration, creativity, and community engagement.
This approach is centered on creating a school that is not just for students, but for the wider community. We believe that a school can be a place where people come together to learn, socialize, and engage in cultural and sporting events. To achieve this, we will open up certain facilities to the wider community in an after-school program, such as the library, sports halls and other common amenities. Other green spaces and activity clubs are being created, all with the aim of fostering a sense of community and promoting healthy living.
In addition to our focus on community engagement and outdoor spaces, our proposal also prioritizes the creation of indoor spaces that foster interactivity and communication. We will create common spaces, such as student lounges, that encourage them to interact with each other, share ideas and collaborate on projects. The creation of spaces that facilitate communication between students and teachers is prioritized, with the aim of developing a supportive and engaging learning environment.
The street that connects the two plots, ‘Aleea Băișoara’ inherits a more pedestrian student oriented character, with car speed restrictions and limited access. The parking places near the south plot are transformed into a common space for leisure during the day, where students can study and interact. Now the connection between the two plots is easily facilitated, so the students can move freely between them.
The other streets that intersect this appendice between the two schools keep their community type of character, with restored parking and green spaces.

This proposal takes into account the school’s position in the neighborhood and its potential to serve as a community hub. The existing layout of the plots is being utilized, with a focus on creating open and planted spaces that encourage outdoor activities and sports with the aim of promoting a healthy living and social interaction.
Considering the economic and spatial constraints we decided to spread the new building on the northern plot and keep it to a minimum on the southern one, where we emphasize more on the restoration.
The recreation area will include circulation areas that may fall into this category, administrative areas will include the chancellery (teacher’s room), common learning areas will include the library.

The corridor in a school is not just a space for students to pass through, but a common area for interactions, socialization, and learning. As students move between classes, they have the opportunity to connect with their peers, share ideas, and collaborate on projects. The corridor can also serve as a space for informal learning, with students discussing their coursework, asking questions, and seeking support from one another. By creating a welcoming environment in the corridors, we can foster a sense of community and support among students, encouraging them to engage with each other and take ownership of their learning.
The ground floor acts as this stunning open space that further enhances the sense of interactivity and community within the school by merging the corridor with all other functions of the building through an atrium. This will serve as a central hub connecting ideas and encourage interactions.

The portico will be an open-air space that allows students and staff to move seamlessly from one area to another while also providing a space for gathering, socializing and studying. It will be a place where students can interact with each other, share ideas and collaborate on projects. This portico will be a key element in making the high school a vibrant, interactive, and inspiring space for students, staff, and the wider community.
